Today's advanced and complex technological environment often daunts students'
attempts to understand the ever changing world. Their ability to make
informed decisions about the vast amount os information at their disposal;
depends upon being abler to locate, evaluate and make ethical use of a
variety of sources.
Building
Information Literacy Skills or (BILS), an instutional effort, with support
from the Andrew W. Mellon grant will empassa two level education model that
will foster faculty, librarian and student collaboration in the ongoing
process of developing, promoting, and teaching information literacy skills.
Undergraduate
students in their first year will acquire and refine their basic research
skills and students in their sophomore, junior, and senior years will use and
refine more advances skills in seeking to fulfill information needs.
